POLE DANCING ON THE AXIS MUNDI, paper, acrylic, graphite on canvas, 60 x 50 inches, 2011
“The juxtaposition of collage elements in this mixed media painting, including disparate textual fragments, echoes the non-linear structure of my poem of the same title, which weaves through time, space, and various states of consciousness. The verticality of the composition's structure alludes to movement in the poem. Human life is observed as a series of balancing acts, in both mind and body, where gravity functions as not only a spatial, but also an emotional and existential force.”-- Jacqueline Dee Parker
